In the video below, pro rider, adventurer and filmmaker Aaron Chase gives us a POV taste of a brand new trail at Northstar Bike Park that opens to the public on Sept. 25, and puts fresh tire tracks on the brand new Red Bull Roller Coaster feature.
Visiting Northstar for the GoPro Athlete Summit, Chase shares a bit of what happens during these exclusive meetups, what it takes to make a good bike park and what he'll be doing during the upcoming 10th edition of Rampage on Oct. 17, 2015.
The trail links into a Red Bull Roller Coaster feature ... Riders of any skill level can hit it
RedBull.com: So, what happens at the GoPro Athlete Summit?
Aaron Chase: The GoPro team is there to help athletes with the cameras. A lot of the guys are getting used to how to edit and learning the insides of the cameras. GoPro teaches the athletes how to use the different options like burst mode and other features.

Premiering Northstar's New MTB Trail at GoPro Camp

Northstar Bike Park opens a wild new trail with the help of Aaron Chase and a few GoPro athletes.

You’re pretty experienced with a GoPro already — don't you shoot your Web series, " Through My Eyes," entirely on GoPro?
I’m a bit ahead of the curve. I’ve been with GoPro since 2007. The new ones are so good. I can collect the whole story with my GoPro and then share it with my series.
Northstar Bike Park has essentially put the final touches on their best trail on the hill
Who else is there with you?
Darren Berrecloth is here. Mike "Hucker" Clark is here. Drew Bezanson, Martin Söderström — anybody who is capable with the cameras who ride wheels on the adventure side.
Tell us about the new trail you guys are launching while you’re at Northstar.
Upper Gypsy is one of the most fun, flowiest trails on the hill with berms and jumps — and it just kind of ended on a fire road. Now, they’ve connected it into Lower Gypsy, which is a new trail. Northstar Bike Park has essentially put the final touches on their best trail on the hill. The trail also links into a Red Bull Roller Coaster feature, which people have been excited to hit.

What is the new feature all about?
It’s a corkscrew that required plenty of support and cement fittings. They had to build it to code like you’d build a deck. It’s not some janky wooden thing. It flows together cool ... it’s a different sensation — there’s this exposure on one side and this sharp rock on the other side. Riders of any skill level can hit it, though. It always gets me excited to see someone like Red Bull put time and money into building mountain bike trails and features that are fun or crazy. It’s a treat having something like that pop up on the trail.
How is Northstar?
It’s all right, they are building and learning ... You gotta have a biker with passion behind a bike park to make the place a destination: Whistler, Highland, Mountain Creek — they are all built by riders and it shows. Coast Gravity Park in Canada is built by some of the sickest riders.
Rampage is just around the corner — and you’ve been involved in the past as a judge — what will be your role this year?
I’ll be announcing the live broadcast of Rampage with Brad Jay. I also announced back in 2008, as well, so that will be fun. And I may do something live on Periscope, we'll see how the reception is out in the desert this year ...
We'll be tuned in — thanks, Aaron!
To hear Aaron Chase call the action on the mic, tune in Oct. 17 for Rampage finals LIVE on Red Bull TV — until then, check out the first nine years of action on the exclusive Rampage Retrospective website.
